While
I was completing my MBA I gained a lot of weight due to stress and lack
of time to eat properly and exercise. I packed on over 50 pounds of

The real problem is misinformation.
To prove my point, here are five stupid myths that almost everyone has
believed up to today:
MYTH 1: You have to work
out with an empty stomach to burn fat
People believe that if you starve yourself
before hitting the gym, you’ll burn more fat and you become buff
faster. WRONG! The body is a finely-tuned machine
that requires a base energy source in order to work. This is just some
junk that hyped up magazines have been feeding the public for the past
20+ years. People still believe this junk – that’s why they
keep failing!
The body needs energy in the form of food to
burn off and shed associated fat. If you work out without eating your
energy will CRASH and you will feel SICK
from exerting so much without giving your body the fuel it needs.
MYTH 2: Long-duration cardiovascular workouts are needed to shed fat
Another myth worth busting: your body actually works better if you
perform high-intensity interval workouts. Here’s a good example:
hit the bike or the treadmill and work out with normal speed for twenty
seconds. Then increase the speed and work at a higher intensity for
another twenty seconds. You can cut your workout time in half and burn
more calories than ever! (I will teach you everything you need to know
in Chapter 6 of my book)
MYTH 3: You
shouldn’t eat after workouts so you won’t add more fat
On the contrary: a person who has just worked out should eat a
nutritious snack within the 2 hour glycemic window produced by the
workout. Within this period, the body is in peak condition to utilize
and distribute energy.
Prepare a snack that has a nutritional ratio
of 3:1 (carbohydrates & protein ratio) and let your body absorb all
the good stuff. Do this and you will recover faster and you will feel tremendously
good the next day. How’s that for a fat loss diet?!
MYTH 4: Strength training
does not help burn fat
This is one of the oldest myths floating around the world of
bodybuilding and fitness – and it’s just that, a myth.
Strength training actually allows you to continuous build mass over
the long term (that means you can be buff at 30, 40, 50,
60…. There is no age limit on muscle growth!) and burn calories
even when you’re asleep. Strength building allows your
body’s metabolism to shoot through the roof, which helps prevent
fat storage!
MYTH 5: Fat makes people fat
Fat is actually an essential building block in the human body. However,
too much fat from non-ideal sources
can cause health problems. From now on, replace the fat you
get from processed food, canned food, fast food and fried food with healthy
fats that actually keep your organs healthy!
Here are some great sources of healthy fat:
full fat yogurt, avocado, almonds, macadamia nuts, lean meat and
cottage cheese. Replacing your old fat sources can help control your
appetite (because your body is not being deprived of fat) and help you
shed more body fat than you can ever imagine possible.

I won’t lie to you…
When I was a teenager, I believed A
LOT OF CRAP about bodybuilding and weight loss too. I was bombarded by
endless, useless information from the media. The Internet was new back
then and everything I read, I believed. It was easy to fall into the
traps of these media monkeys…
They didn’t care about me
back then… Nor will they care about you now.
I used to believe that bodybuilding
was all about buying supplements, protein shakes and diet pills –
not to mention steroids and growth hormones.
So how was I able to build my body
to peak form even if everyone else was experimenting with steroids,
growth hormones and what not?
My personal quest for my very
first Body Transformation began...

My Dad is a great guy. But like
most of the fathers from his generation, he didn’t talk much.
Instead, my Dad preferred to act
and let nature take its course. You see, when I was younger I
experienced being humiliated because I was a slim teenager. Hell,
almost every teenager I knew back then was skinny. And I hated the fact
that people constantly reminded me that I looked like a bean pole. Some
guy in my mom’s church even called me “Skinny Jeff”.
Who the heck does that, anyway? Other people called me
“toothpick” and “pencil neck”. I never mingled
with these goons again, but you can say their insults motivated me to
become physically fit.
Right around the time that the
skinny name calling came about, my Dad suddenly brought home a bench
press set and some weights. He didn’t tell me to use it…
He didn’t even force me to try it out. The bench press set went
to our basement. As expected, this thin teenager who craved to be
bigger and stronger, tried it out.
I didn’t do it alone.
I had a little help from three guys
– my brother and his two HUGE friends who I'll just call Arnold
and Jimmy. Arnold and Jimmy were so muscle-bound that they had to turn
sideways so they can fit into doors. Their shoulders were gigantic. I
swear – these guys were absolute monsters and it had nothing to
do with my age or being smaller. Trust me, these were tough dudes!
My body responded tremendously to
the strength training. I had found the one thing that could finally
turn my life around. Strength training and weight lifting became the
focal point in my life.
Weight lifting improved my
physique and became a truly positive force in my life. Unlike video
games and fast food, weight lifting was one ‘obsession’
that added years to my life instead of reducing my lifespan to half or
less.

MYTH:
MEALS AFTER 8 PM MAKE YOU FAT – It
doesn’t matter what time of the day you eat. What matters is how
many calories you receive in a day. If you eat food that is worth
1,500 calories at breakfast, you will gain weight if you
take in 2,000 more calories before 8 PM. If you have a
caloric limitation of 1,500 calories a day and you stick to
that caloric limitation, you will start to lose weight even if you have
regular, midnight snacks as long as you stick to your
fitness program. |

|
MYTH:
SKIPPING BREAKFAST CAN MAKE YOU LEANER – Not
true! Some people believe that depriving oneself of the most important
meal of the day is essential to weight loss. It isn’t –
it’s actually disastrous for your metabolism because
the body is forced to starve until lunch time. Your metabolism is
negatively affected and you will feel that you have to eat more late
in the day (even if you don’t have to). Eating breakfast helps
regulate your body’s metabolism, which in turn helps you burn
more fat throughout the day. |

MYTH:
SNACKS ARE A NO-NO IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT –
The saying may be old, but it’s
essentially true: having many small meals throughout the day can help
you lose weight!
The logic behind this is simple: your appetite
or desire to eat is satisfied if you eat small
meals throughout the day. You won’t feel deprived or hungry
because your body acknowledges that you have had multiple meals. Hunger
or the need to be fed is different from appetite
or the desire to eat. The best approach is to
satiate both drives so that you don’t feel deprived and at
the same time you are controlling your caloric intake.

MYTH:
CARBOHYDRATES ARE EVIL – Some
people say that carbohydrates should be avoided because carbs turn into
sugar. This may be true, but excess protein, sugar and fat
can all be stored as body fat. Carbohydrates are an easy source of
energy for the human body. There is no need to eliminate it completely
from your daily diet – you just have to control the portions. |

teachings has gave me new insight on exercises and ways to change my
workout routines. Incorporating legs in my workouts is huge, as i can
feel strength in other area of my body.
